A freshly applied paint or clear coating develops a cloudy, milky or dull appearance instead of drying to an even finish. This is known as blooming or blushing.
Blooming usually occurs when moisture condenses on the coating or becomes trapped in it while it dries. Damp or humid conditions, a cold surface, or applying a coating when the temperature is close to the dew point can increase the risk. The exact cause depends on the product and how it was applied.
Allow the coating to dry fully and check whether the haze clears. If it remains, consult the product’s technical data sheet before attempting a repair. The affected finish may need to be lightly abraded or removed and then recoated once the surface is dry and conditions are suitable. Keep the surface above the dew point, avoid high humidity during application and drying, and use only the thinner recommended for the product.
